The Hampton Roads Youth Center is a private, non-profit residential program committed to providing a resource for troubled youth and their families in Hampton Roads.

The Hampton Roads Youth Center
On a spacious, beautiful 55-acre lot in rural Suffolk, VA there is a 10,000 square foot building capable of housing 9 boys and 9 girls, ages 12-17, in separate wings.
This supportive community based program is for children who are experiencing emotional, social, educational and family problems that are preventing them from being successfull in school and at home.

The Harvey J. Lindsay Jr. School
The Harvey L. Lindsay, Jr. School at the Hampton Roads Youth Center employs licensed regular education teachers and certified special education teachers. There is a six to one student/teacher ratio offering Individualized Instruction Plans and Individualized Educational Plans. HRYC provides a positive therapeutic environment where children receive individual, group, and family counseling, as well as life skills development, outdoor recreation, and substance abuse rehabilitation. There is no minimum length of stay as treatment is customized for each individual child and family.
The Hampton Roads Youth Center accepts children of any race, religion, creed and socioeconomic level. Children are referred by parents, schools, churches, therapists and through local Family Assessment and Planning Teams (FAPT).
